IPH – Introduction to Aesthetics

 

IPH gladly introduces you the new professor of Introduction to Aesthetics Prof. Elena Romagnoli holds a PhD in philosophy from the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa (2020). She obtained a DAAD Post-Doc scholarship at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg in 2021 and a Fritz Thyssen Post-Doc scholarship at the Freie-Universität Berlin in 2022. She cooperates with the chair of Aesthetics at the University of Pisa.

Her research focuses on the aesthetics of the Goethezeit (Kant, Hegel, Solger), philosophical hermeneutics (Heidegger, Gadamer), deconstruction (Derrida) and pragmatist aesthetics (Dewey, Shusterman). To these topics, she devoted several articles in international journals, and she has authored two monographs dedicated, respectively, to the Gadamer-Derrida debate (2021) and to a performative reading of Gadamer’s aesthetics (2023). She also edited (together with Stefano Marino) the Italian translation of a collection of Gadamer’s essays on aesthetics (2021). She is member of the Italian Society of Aesthetics, Pragma Society and Hans-Georg Gadamer Gesellschaft für hermeneutische Philosophie.
